SOLUTION FOCUSED METAPHORS WORKSHOP
To attend a workshop on a Saturday is often not the ideal way of spending a big part of one's weekend. But when I drove onto the N1 offramp, on my way to the Killarney Country Club in Johannesburg, I was anticipating a day of stimulating lectures and practicals, and interaction with colleagues. But the brilliant workshop presented by Dr Jacqui von Cziffra-Bergs of the Solution Focused Institute of South Africa exceeded my expectations.
She inspired us to become more devoted Solution Focused therapists by helping us to sharpen our existing tools. However, the colleagues unanimously agreed that the newly learned "Solution Focused Matrix" will be an indispensable tool in the future. This technique is a way of guiding a client step by step in finding his way towards a solution by drawing pictures/metaphors to express himself. I am going to take this a step further in my practice and use PHOMO CARDS™ instead. Choosing a picture is often easier than drawing one.
When I came home last night, highly inspired by the workshop, I couldn't wait to try out the Matrix with my set of PHOMO CARDS™. I chose a problem that I am currently struggling with, went through the steps of the Matrix, and couldn't believe my eyes when the solution popped out of the page! This new technique is going to make a significant difference to my client's lives, particularly those who feel stuck.
Thank you dr. Jacqui von Cziffra-Bergs. You and Geza (husband and Operations Manager) are so devoted to Solution Focused Therapy in South Africa. So many therapists' and clients' lives have been changed for the better by your hard work.
I am looking forward to your ethics workshop on the 1st of November 2019!
